Leer en español: Plan Starter de GoHighLevel · Ler em português: Plano Starter do GoHighLevel · Part of the GoHighLevel pricing guide
The GoHighLevel Starter plan costs $97/month ($970/year) and includes every core feature, unlimited contacts and users and 3 sub-accounts. It is built for one business or a freelancer with up to three clients. It does not include rebilling, SaaS Mode or more than three sub-accounts, and usage such as SMS, calls, email, WhatsApp and AI is billed on top.

Most people who compare HighLevel’s plans assume the cheapest one is a “lite” version. It is not. The GoHighLevel Starter plan has the same CRM, funnels, workflows, inbox and AI tools as the $497 plan. What changes between plans is how many businesses you can run inside it and whether you can charge clients for the platform.
That makes Starter the right plan for more people than it seems: a clinic, a real estate team, a coach, a local service company or a freelancer with a handful of clients. This guide explains exactly what is included, what it really costs each month and the moment it stops being enough.
What is included in the GoHighLevel Starter plan
Starter includes all the core features listed on HighLevel’s pricing page. In practice, these are the tools you will use every day:
Starter plan limits
| Starter plan | What it means for you | |
|---|---|---|
| Sub-accounts | 3 | Up to three separate businesses or clients |
| Contacts | Unlimited | No price jump as your list grows |
| Users | Unlimited | Add your whole team at no extra cost |
| API | Basic, sub-account level | Private integrations and simple automations; no agency-level keys |
| White label | Web app on your domain | Clients see your brand when they log in |
| Rebilling | Not available | You pay all usage and include it in your fees |
| SaaS Mode | Not available | You cannot sell HighLevel subscriptions on autopilot |
| Support | 24/7 | Chat, email and phone support from HighLevel |
What the Starter plan really costs each month
$97 is the subscription. On top of that you pay for what you use. These are the official usage prices that show up most often:
| Item | Official price | When you pay it |
|---|---|---|
| Local phone number (US/Canada) | $1.15/month | Each number for SMS and calls |
| SMS (US/Canada) | $0.00747 per segment + carrier fees | Every text sent or received |
| Calls (US) | $0.0166/min outbound, $0.01165/min inbound | Calls through LC Phone |
| A2P 10DLC registration | $22.50 one-time (low volume) + monthly campaign fee | Before texting US numbers |
| Email (LC Email) | $0.675 per 1,000 emails | Campaigns and workflow emails |
| $10/month per sub-account + Meta fees | If you use WhatsApp inside HighLevel | |
| AI | Pay-per-use, or $50 or $97/month per sub-account | Voice AI, Conversation AI and other AI tools |
| Premium workflow steps | $0.01 per run after 100 free | Webhooks, Google Sheets, Slack, app actions |
Three realistic budgets on the GoHighLevel Starter plan:
| Scenario | What it includes | Approx. monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Single clinic | Starter + 1 local number + 1,500 SMS segments + 5,000 emails | ≈ $113 |
| Freelancer with 3 clients | Starter + 3 numbers + 3,000 SMS segments + 15,000 emails + WhatsApp on one client | ≈ $143 |
| Business with an AI receptionist | Starter + AI Employee Unlimited on one sub-account + phone usage | ≈ $194 + phone minutes |
Budgets exclude carrier fees and the one-time A2P registration. On Starter, usage is billed to you, so freelancers should build it into their monthly fee.
Monthly or annual billing
Annual billing costs $970 instead of $1,164, so you get two months free. Pay monthly while you test and set up your first sub-account; switch to annual once the business is running on HighLevel and you know you will stay at least a year. You can still upgrade from an annual Starter plan later.

Who the Starter plan is for, and who should skip it
A single business
Clinics, real estate teams, gyms, schools, law firms and local services that want CRM, follow-up and marketing in one place. One sub-account is enough, and the other two are useful for a second brand or a sandbox.
Freelancers with up to three clients
You manage each client in their own sub-account and charge a monthly retainer that covers the platform and usage.
Skip it if you are building an agency
If you plan to sign a fourth client within a few months, or want to rebill usage, start on Unlimited. If you want to sell the software under your brand, look at Agency Pro.
How to use the three sub-accounts
Three sub-accounts sound like a small number until you see how most Starter users actually spend them:
Freelancers use the same three slots for three paying clients. The moment a fourth client signs, Starter is the wrong plan and the Unlimited plan pays for itself.
Five mistakes that make the Starter plan more expensive
- Emojis and accents in SMS. A text with an emoji or special characters is sent as Unicode, so one segment holds 70 characters instead of 160. The same message can cost two or three segments.
- Skipping A2P 10DLC registration. Unregistered US traffic gets filtered or blocked, so you pay for messages that never arrive.
- Emailing old, unverified lists. Bounces hurt your sender reputation. Validate old lists first ($2.50 per 1,000) and warm up the sending domain.
- Premium workflow actions everywhere. Webhooks, Google Sheets and app actions cost $0.01 per run after the first 100. Use them where they add value, not on every step.
- Paying monthly for a year you already committed to. If HighLevel is already running your business, $97 × 12 is $1,164; annual is $970.

Your first week on the Starter plan
- Day 1: set up the sub-account. Business details, users, a local phone number and your email sending domain.
- Day 2: import contacts. Create custom fields first, then import your list or connect your forms and ad accounts.
- Day 3: build the pipeline. Stages that match how you sell, from new lead to won.
- Day 4: launch the first funnel. One page, one offer, one form, connected to the pipeline.
- Day 5: switch on the five core workflows. Speed to lead, missed call text back, appointment reminders, review request and reactivation.
- Day 6: connect your channels. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile and the web chat widget.
- Day 7: register A2P and test. Register for A2P 10DLC if you text US numbers, then run test contacts through every workflow.

Frequently asked questions

$97 per month, or $970 per year if you pay annually, which works out to two months free. Usage such as phone numbers, SMS, email, WhatsApp and AI is billed separately.
How many sub-accounts does the Starter plan include?
Three. Each sub-account is a separate business with its own contacts, pipelines, funnels, calendars and phone numbers. If you need a fourth, you have to move to Unlimited ($297/month).
Does the Starter plan limit contacts or users?
No. Contacts and users are unlimited on every GoHighLevel plan, so you can add your whole team without paying per seat.
Does the Starter plan include all features?
Yes. Can I white label the Starter plan?
You can run the web app on your own domain with your logo. Reselling HighLevel as your own software with SaaS Mode requires Agency Pro.
