Every “make money with GoHighLevel” video quotes the same number: 40% recurring. It’s real, and it’s the headline of HighLevel’s own affiliate page. But 40% of what, for how long, and after which rules? That’s the part that decides whether you earn $38.80 a month or a few thousand.
This guide turns the percentage into dollars, plan by plan. You’ll also get a calculator you can play with, the rules that quietly reduce what you’re paid, and a realistic picture of what the first year tends to look like.
The official commission structure
According to HighLevel’s help center, level 1 pays a 40% monthly recurring commission on referred customers and level 2 pays 5% monthly recurring on sales from your sub-affiliates. The June 2026 affiliate agreement confirms the same split and adds that the 5% tier only applies when HighLevel approves the second-tier designation.
Commissions are calculated on what HighLevel actually collects (minus sales tax), so a discounted or credited subscription pays a little less than the list-price math below.
| Plan | Monthly price | Your 40% / month | Your 40% / year (monthly billing) | Annual plan → your 40% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 | $38.80 | $465.60 | $970 → $388 |
| Unlimited | $297 | $118.80 | $1,425.60 | $2,970 → $1,188 |
| Agency Pro | $497 | $198.80 | $2,385.60 | $4,970 → $1,988 |
Prices checked on HighLevel’s pricing page in October 2026. If you want the plan differences explained, see our HighLevel pricing breakdown and the Unlimited vs Pro comparison.

Try the commission calculator
Change the numbers to match your own expectations. The churn field matters more than people think: it’s the share of customers who cancel each month, and it’s what separates a nice screenshot from a real income.
HighLevel affiliate commission calculator
Enter how many paying customers you expect on each plan. Uses 40% of current monthly list prices (Starter $97, Unlimited $297, Agency Pro $497).
The "second-tier" box shows what 5% of the same sales would be worth if those customers came from affiliates you recruited instead of from you directly. It's a useful sanity check: second tier is a bonus, not a business model.
Three realistic first-year scenarios
Here's how the same program looks for three different people. All three use list prices and assume customers stay for the months shown.
The side-project blogger
Lands 1 Starter customer in month 3 and 1 Unlimited in month 8. Year one: 10 × $38.80 + 5 × $118.80 = $982. Most months the balance sits under the $50 payout minimum until the second customer arrives.
The agency consultant
Moves 4 existing clients to their own Unlimited accounts in month 2. If one of them cancels after month 7: about $4,630 in year one, and roughly $356/month going into year two.
The YouTube educator
Adds 2 Unlimited customers a month from month 4, with 5% monthly churn. By month 12 that's around $1,750/month and roughly $9,400 earned in year one.

Notice the pattern. Nobody gets rich in month one. Recurring programs reward people who keep publishing and whose referrals actually stay subscribed.
The rules that change what you're actually paid
The percentage is only half the story. These rules from the affiliate agreement and help center decide when a commission exists at all:
- 45 days in good standing. A sale only qualifies once the account has stayed active and unpaused for 45 days.
- Trials don't pay. Signups start with a trial (14 days by default, or 30 days through HighLevel's Bootcamp link). Commissions count from the first paid subscription.
- $50 minimum, paid on the 15th. Payouts go out on the 15th for the previous month through Tipalti. Balances that don't reach $50 within 120 days can be forfeited.
- Last click wins, 90-day window. If someone clicks another affiliate's link after yours, that affiliate gets the credit.
- Cancellations end it. You earn only while the customer pays, and refunds or chargebacks are clawed back.

What top HighLevel affiliates earn
HighLevel recognizes its highest performers through the Affiliate Commander program. According to the help center, it's an annual status for affiliates earning at least six figures a year in commissions from new referrals and upgrades, announced each October at the LevelUp Summit. Perks include a dedicated Slack channel, invitations to the Affiliate Mastermind, quarterly calls with the dev team and ticket escalation for you and your referrals.
To put six figures in perspective: $100,000 a year is roughly 70 Unlimited customers paying all year, or about 215 Starter customers. That's a real business, built over years, usually by people who teach agencies for a living.
How to earn more from the same traffic
- Promote the plan that fits, not the cheapest one. An agency that needs sub-accounts and leaves Starter in month two is worth less than one that starts on Unlimited and stays.
- Focus on retention. Onboarding help, templates and honest expectations keep customers paying, and that's your income.
- Track every channel. Use SubIDs in the affiliate portal so you know which video or article actually produces paying customers.
- Use HighLevel's own longer trial when it fits. The 30-day Bootcamp link from your dashboard pays the same 40% and gives people more time to set things up.
- Stay compliant. One brand-bidding ad or unapproved "bonus" can cost you every unpaid commission. Read the PPC and brand bidding rules before running ads.

The honest bottom line
The GoHighLevel affiliate program is one of the better recurring offers in marketing software: 40% for the life of the subscription on a product that costs $97 to $497 a month. But the math only works if you bring the right customers and they stay. Treat it like building a small subscription business, not like a lottery ticket, and the calculator above will start to look more like your dashboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the GoHighLevel affiliate program pay?
40% of what each referred customer pays, every month they stay subscribed: $38.80/month for Starter, $118.80 for Unlimited and $198.80 for Agency Pro at current list prices, plus 5% on a second tier.
Is the GoHighLevel commission recurring or one-time?
Recurring. HighLevel pays 40% monthly for as long as the referred account keeps paying and stays in good standing.
How long until I earn my first commission?
A commission counts from the first paid subscription after the trial, then needs 45 days in good standing. With the $50 minimum and payouts on the 15th, the first payment often arrives two to three months after the signup.
Do annual plans pay commission?
Yes. You earn 40% of what HighLevel collects, so an annual Unlimited plan ($2,970) is worth about $1,188 to you.
How much do top GoHighLevel affiliates make?
HighLevel's Affiliate Commander status is for affiliates earning at least six figures a year in commissions. That's an exception, built by people with large, relevant audiences.
Every dollar figure in this article is plan math based on HighLevel's public pricing, not an earnings claim. Most affiliates earn little or nothing; results depend on your audience, your work and customer retention.
